Welcome to The Red Angel: Overseas Chronicles! Thank you so much for visiting! I am a junior at UNC-Chapel Hill majoring in Psychology and Journalism. I have lived in North Carolina for over 10 years, but Boston is the home of my heart. 

TRA: Overseas Chronicles is a branch off of my main blog, The Red Angel Blog. Here at OC, you can follow me whenever I travel – photos, stories and culture, oh my! To the right, you can view my different travel chronicles under Categories. Additionally, having a WordPress blog here allows me to visit and comment on other WordPress blogs in a way that I couldn’t have before with just Blogger.

My lifelong goal as a writer is to make the world a better place by using my work to encourage people to not only accept but also embrace each other’s differences. Inspiration is only half of the process…if the stories of my life and others can change the way people view each other and the world, then I will have done my job. 

I’m currently on the staff for Blue & White features magazine and Cellar Door literary magazine. From 2011-2012, I worked as an editorial intern for Sleepy Hollow Books children’s independent publishing company. I am an active NaNoer and macaroni-and-cheese addict. Books are my best friends, and people mean a lot to me. So do turtles and superheroes and pianos. 

I am very passionate about disabilities awareness. In many ways, a disability can be seen as a limitation. But it’s only a limitation if that’s how you perceive it to be. And really, we are just like you. We are simply people with certain health circumstances who must find alternative ways to live. It can be challenging, but it can also feel empowering once you realize that you can do anything you set your mind to. 

On the blog, I am known as TRA, or the Red Angel. This is a pen name I gave myself, and its origins are connected to my Chinese heritage (the color red stands for good luck!) and my ever-continuous desire to write -stories about inspiring characters, stories about true life, stories that may help others to stay optimistic about the future. The Red Angel is a pseudonym that I strive to live up to and use as a source for inspiration.
